Oke, kali ini aku mau share tentang Degree of Comparison

Degree of comparison, digunakan ketika kita membandingkan seseorang atau sesuatu dengan yang lainnya. Degre of comparison ada 3 tingkatan, diantaranya :

1. Positive Degree

Yaitu tingkatan setara. Ketika kita ingin membandingkan dua hal dengan kondisi atau karakter yang sama, kita menggunakan bentuk Positive Degree. Rumusnya seperti ini :

S + to be + as + Adj + as

2. Comparative Degree

Digunakan ketika kita membandingkan dua hal dengan yang lainnya. Ada dua rumus untuk tingkatan ini, yaitu:

• For one syllable (satu suku kata) : S + to be + Adjective + er + than
• For more than syllable (lebih dari satu suku kata) : S + to be + more + Adj + than

3. Superlative Degree

Tingkatan ini lebih tinggi. Digunakan ketika kita membandingkan lebih dari dua hal dengan yang lainnya. Seperti halnya Comparative Degree, tingkatan ini ada dua hal, yaitu:

• For one syllable : S + to be + the* + adj + est
• For more than one syllable : S + to be + the* + more + est

*menunjukan/menegaskan

Berikut ini contoh dari Degree of Comparison :

A.    Positive Degree

1.      The almamater of Indonesian Cooperative Institute is as yellow as Indonesian University.

2.      Taylor Swift is as famous as Katy Perri.

3.      The rabbit is as cute as cat.

4.      Anton is as clever as Resna.

5.      Rossi is as tall as Astri.

6.      Festival Culinary Night is as cowded as traditional market.

7.      Syarhrin’s lifestyle is as luxurious as Paris Hilton.

8.      Kate Middleton is as beautiful as Lady Diana.

9.      The needle is as sharp as knife.

10.  Crocodile is as wild as snake.

B.     Comparative Degree

a.      For one syllable.

1.      My father is older than my mother.

2.      This calculator is smaller than that one.

3.      Our classroom is cleaner than their.

4.      My sister is smarter than me.

5.      This assignment is easier than assignment of cost accounting.

b.      For more than syllable.

1.      The film was more exciting than the book.

2.      I buy more snack than Lusy.

3.      He is more handsome tha his friend.

4.      The seminar is more important than shopping.

5.      Budi is more polite than Wawan.

C.    Superlative Degree

a)      For one syllable.

1.      This building is highest in this town.

2.      Gamma is the tallest student in our class.

3.      My mother is the strongest woman in this world.

4.      Riana Helmi is the youngest doctor in Indonesia.

5.      Judika is the best singer in Indonesia.

b)     For more than syllable.

1.      The most importan thing for student is to study hard.

2.      Jakarta is the most polluted city in Indonesia.

3.      Johan is the most humble person I’ve ever met.

4.      Bali is the most wonderful place in the world.

5.      This is the most delicious food I’ve ever tried.
